Apr 28 “Funding Considerations for Jurisdiction and Reform of First Nations Child & Family Services” Webinar Video Resources

“Funding Considerations for Jurisdiction & Reform in First Nations Child and Family Services” Webinar was held on April 28, 2025 and hosted by the Our Children Our Way Society.

Dr. Helaina Gaspard of the Institute of Fiscal Studies and Democracy (IFSD) shared an analysis of the work done with First Nations and First Nations Child and Family Service Agencies, on matters of structure, funding, and accountability as key considerations in pursuing jurisdiction, and child and family services reform.

With opening comments from BC Regional Chief Terry Teegee, and take-home resources developed by Our Children Our Way to support First Nations with considerations for funding jurisdiction, viewers will gain valuable insights into critical components of developing a funding model, including:

  • Data collection
  • Baseline funding methodologies
  • Adjustment factors such as remoteness and poverty
  • How a funding allotment designed for reform is interdependently connected to structure and accountability
