Jennifer Chuckry appointed OCOW Society Secretariat Executive Director

Squamish Nation Territory. The Indigenous Child and Family Services Directors Our Children Our Way Society is thrilled to announce the appointment of Jennifer Chuckry as our new Executive Director. Effective October 1, 2023, Jennifer will lead the Our Children Our Way Secretariat to strengthen the work of the Our Children Our Way Society.
“We are delighted that Jennifer has agreed to take on this role. She brings strength, integrity and compassion, along with a wealth of experience steeped in culturally-connected social work practice,” says Mary Teegee, Chair of the Our Children Our Way board of directors.
Jennifer has been an active member of the Our Children Our Way Society as a board member representing Urban Indigenous child and family services agencies. Jennifer is currently the Executive Director of Surrounded by Cedar Child and Family Services and brings over 13 years of leadership experience in the delivery of child and family services.
“I am humbled and honoured by the opportunity to step into a leadership role with the Our Children Our Way Secretariat. Over the last several years, I have witnessed the Indigenous Child & Family Services Directors, with the brilliant support of the Secretariat, lead from their hearts as they work tirelessly to effect change on behalf of Indigenous children, youth, young adults and families. I am excited to be part of the work ahead with the Secretariat, uplifting the work and voices of Directors, while ensuring Indigenous Child & Family Services Agencies are fully supported to care for and protect their most sacred gifts,” says Jennifer.
