Jurisdiction Tool-Kit 2.0 Transition planning in unchartered waters

Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) Territory

Jurisdiction Tool-Kit 2.0: Transition planning in unchartered waters” provides new information, updated resources, and reflects questions that have come to the surface in an everchanging multi-jurisdictional landscape.

Since last year’s successful launch of our first “Jurisdiction Tool-Kit: Planting seeds, growing Nations“, it became clear that we needed to continue collecting and sharing information on jurisdiction matters in Indigenous child and family wellbeing and to bring the most current understanding of its implications to the surface.

This version dives deeper into the components of jurisdiction, and prompts critical reflection on upholding ‘An Act Respecting First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Children, Youth and Families’.

Provincially legislated jurisdiction and funding challenges are also included. We offer this tool to those who are implicated in Indigenous child and family wellbeing services, those seeking to build capacity and envision a future for their children, youth, families and communities, and in support of Nations and inherent Rights-Holders on their journey. Explore the many linkages the Tool-Kit 2.0 contains, and look out for new additions and updates along the way.
